Help shape the next generation of lacrosse players in the Westview community.

Westview Youth Lacrosse is seeking head coaches and assistant coaches for the upcoming season.

Who Should Coach

Whether you’re a first-time parent coach or an experienced lacrosse coach, WYL provides clear structure, age-appropriate standards, and support throughout the season.

Most coaching requirements are completed online and typically take only a few hours total. WYL will guide you through each step.

time commitment

The spring lacrosse season runs from early March through late May.

Specific practice days, times, and game schedules will be confirmed once teams are formed and fields are finalized.

Coaches should expect the following time commitment:

practices

  • 2 practices per week

  • Monday-Friday evenings

Games

  • Saturday games during April and May

tournament

  • Each team participates in at least one weekend tournament

  • Typically held Saturday-Sunday in April or May

Coach Onboarding Checklist

All coaches must complete the steps below before the first practice.

Create or Renew Your USA Lacrosse Membership

  • Register or renew your USA Lacrosse Coach Membership

  • Membership must be active through the end of the season

  • Annual cost: $60
    If you require reimbursement for the $60 USA Lacrosse fee, WYL is happy to provide reimbursement upon request.

Complete Your Background Check

  • Complete the USA Lacrosse Background Check

  • Background checks are required every two (2) years

Complete Required Coaching Certifications

Complete the USA Lacrosse Bronze Certification (annual), which includes:

  • Abuse Prevention Training

  • Cultural Competency

  • Concussion Awareness

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training

  • Rules Exam

Head / Solo Coaches must also complete USA Lacrosse Silver Certification (one-time requirement).

Westview Youth Lacrosse program coordinators are available as needed to help with questions, planning, and logistics throughout the season.

Coach Eligibility & Safety Requirements

All coaches must maintain current USA Lacrosse membership and complete required certifications and safety checks.

Head / Solo Coaches

  • Age 18+ (not currently enrolled in high school)

  • USA Lacrosse Coach Membership (renewed annually)

  • USA Lacrosse Background Check (every two years)

Required Certifications

  • USA Lacrosse Bronze Certification (annual)

  • USA Lacrosse Silver Certification (one time only)

Assistant Coaches

  • USA Lacrosse Coach Membership (renewed annually)

  • USA Lacrosse Background Check (every two years)

Required Certifications

  • USA Lacrosse Bronze Certification (annual)

Experienced coaches are encouraged to bring their own practice structure and coaching style, aligned with USA Lacrosse and Westview Youth Lacrosse standards.
